How to stay warm without running up crippling power bills

Brrr… it’s cold outside. When I walk the dogs in the early morning, I can see my breath on the air. I pass a neighbour pouring water on her car windows to de-ice them before setting off. The distant mountains are snow-covered.

So far, so mid-winter.

What’s not so acceptable to many of us who don’t live in modern, ultra-insulated homes is how cold it is indoors. This morning the thermometer on my heater told me it was 11 degrees inside at 7am
